This beginner-level mountaineering course is designed for those who wish to take their first steps into the world of high-altitude adventure. Over the course of five days, participants will learn essential skills such as rock climbing, rappelling, knot-tying, and sustainable camping. The program also includes a challenging yet rewarding height-gain trek to 10,000 feet via the historic Forgotten Silk Route.
This immersive experience will equip participants with foundational techniques required for future alpine adventures while enjoying breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.

Day 1: Arrival & Orientation
Introduction and orientation session
Distribution of course handouts
Overview of the itinerary and objectives
Q/A session and preparation for the days ahead
Day 2: Basic Rock Climbing & Rappelling
Introduction to climbing techniques and safety protocols
Hands-on training in basic rock climbing
Rappelling techniques and descent control
Knot-tying workshop (Mountaineering knots)
Camping setup and sustainable outdoor practices (including fire-making techniques)
Day 3: Advanced Rappelling at Emperor’s Face (5 km trek)
Hike to Kudi Dhank
Screening of The Alpinist (Mountaineering Documentary)
Advanced rappelling (abseiling) on Emperor’s Face (100 ft cliff with an overhang)
Safety procedures and emergency response drills
Day 4: Height Gain Trek – The Forgotten Silk Route
Full-day trekking through the historic Forgotten Silk Route
Altitude gain to 10,000 ft
Navigation and acclimatization techniques
Camping and evening discussions on high-altitude survival
Day 5: Departure
Wrap-up session and feedback

HOW TO GET HERE
By Air
The nearest airport is Shimla (Jubbarhatti), 20 km from Shimla & 50 km from the training site.
Alternatively, fly to Chandigarh Airport (180 km from the site, ~6-hour drive) and hire a taxi.
By Rail
Kalka Railway Station (152 km from the site) is the nearest broad-gauge railway station. From there, taxis are available.
Kalka to Shimla toy train (95 km, ~4-6 hours) offers a scenic journey with 103 tunnels.
By Road
From Shimla: 2-hour drive via private taxi or state-run buses.
From Delhi: 8+ hour drive via NH1 & NH5 (Luxury buses & taxis available).

CANCELLATION POLICY
Non-refundable payments unless the workshop is canceled by the organizers.
Rescheduling possible with 10+ days notice (70% of the fee transferable).
No Show Policy: Failure to attend without prior notice forfeits the entire fee.
In case of a natural disaster, payments will be adjusted for a rescheduled workshop.
